Program Introduction
The O-1 visa is a work visa for foreign applicants who have demonstrated excellence in the fields of science, education, business, sports, art, film and television. It allows the applicant to work in the U.S. for a maximum of 3 years, and can be renewed after the expiration date. In theory, as long as the applicant has a job, he/she can apply for an extension on a yearly basis, with no maximum period of stay. It can be subdivided into O-1A and O-1B visas.
- O-1A: Applicable to science, education, business, and sports.
- O-1B: Applicable to the field of art, film and television.
Application Requirements
O-1A Visa
Relevant evidence is required to show that the beneficiary has received a prestigious, internationally recognized award or honor, or has met at least any three of the following criteria
- Nationally or internationally recognized awards
- Membership in national professional associations
- Media coverage
- Serving as a peer reviewer
- Original contributions to the field of work
- Scholarly articles in professional publications
- Key or leadership position in an organization of outstanding reputation
- Salary above industry average


O-1B Visa
Evidence of having won or been nominated for a major national or international award in a specific field (e.g., Oscar, Emmy, Grammy, etc.), or meeting at least any three of the following six points
- A major role in a prestigious production or event for which acclaim has been received
- Recognition of achievement at the national or international level
- A central position in a prestigious organization
- Highly regarded for commercial success or critical acclaim
- Recognition and recommendation from authorities/experts
- Past or future high salary or other compensation in field of endeavor
Application Process
- Step 1: Free Assessment
- Step 2: File a Labor Condition Application (LCA)
- Step 3:Completion of package Submission to USCIS
- Step 4: Regular processing: 3-6 months Expedited processing: 15 days
- Step 5: Interview, Bring I-797 approval letter to U.S. Embassy or Consulate abroad.
- Step 6: With valid visa and Form I-94 Landing in the U.S.
